As usual, Beck's team distorts history to falsely denigrate progressives

Home Disclaimer Contents For Glenn Beck Share This URL
Last Friday, July 13th, Glenn Beck read part of an original letter from Thomas Jefferson to Caesar Rodney, the Delaware delegate to the Continental Congress who broke a tie for the Delaware delegation in favor of the Declaration of Independence. On his website, which covered this part of his show, someone claimed that these "are the kinds of stories the progressives have worked diligently to erase from American history." That is ironic, some might say deceitful, since it was a conservative who managed to get Jefferson cut from TX high school textbooks.

Via Beck's website is this:
Glenn literally held history on radio today as he showed the actual letter Thomas Jefferson wrote that may have been the key to getting the Declaration of Independence actually signed. These are the kinds of stories the progressives have worked diligently to erase from American history. If you want to restore America you have to first know what it looked like at the beginning.
The person writing on Beck's page apparently did not listen to the clip when Beck stated that the letter was written "in 1820." That was 44 years after the vote for getting the Declaration passed. Furthermore, someone needs to remind Beck's team who is, in fact, pushing Jefferson out of the history school books. Via the NY Times:
Cynthia Dunbar, a lawyer from Richmond who is a strict constitutionalist and thinks the nation was founded on Christian beliefs, managed to cut Thomas Jefferson from a list of figures whose writings inspired revolutions in the late 18th century and 19th century, replacing him with St. Thomas Aquinas, John Calvin and William Blackstone. (Jefferson is not well liked among conservatives on the board because he coined the term “separation between church and state.”).
Once again, Beck is distorting the truth on his radio show, but the clip provided on Beck's site begins with the slogan for Beck's online programming, "GBTV: The truth lives here." Really? If he keeps repeating that lie often enough, his gullible viewers are bound to believe it. As Joseph Goebbels said: “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.

Glenn Beck                                Thomas Jefferson

What was in Jefferson's letter that had Beck so excited? Again via Beck's website:

I see a real breaker ahead which fills me with horror. But I hope that prudence and moderation and regard for our own happiness and especially for the cause of reformation throughout the world will induce a spirit of accomodation and save our country and the world entire from the calamity that is threatened. We are the world’s last great hope and its loss will be on our heads. God bless you and preserve you, Thomas Jefferson.’
One wonders what was contained in the rest of the letter to Rodney that Beck could not be bothered to read on his three hour radio program. Beck did add  Caesar Rodney played a huge role in the passage of the Declaration of Independence.” Rodney broke the tie in the Delaware delegation in favor of passage of the Declaration and made the document the "unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America," but it would have passed, 11-1-1 without Rodney's vote. Beck plays a huge role in distorting history for political and propaganda purposes.

At the time, the United States was one of very few democratic governments in the world, and it certainly was "the world’s last great hope" at the time. Despite the corporate takeover of the United States under way thanks to the conservative Robert's Court decision, Citizens United v FEC, Beck and his ilk want us to believe that the United States of America is still last great hope. Jefferson had something to say about this, too.

I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of the moneyed corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and bid defiance to the laws of our country.(1)
You won't hear Beck, the corporate shill, cite this quotation from Jefferson on any of his programs any time soon. If you want to restore America, help with the effort to get corporations out of our elections and law-making in Washington, DC. The people, conservative, liberal, progressive and radical, united against Citizens United, are the last great hope for a democratic Republic.

Glenn Beck supports the Party he hates

Home Disclaimer Contents For Glenn Beck Share This URL
The following video clip, extracted from Crooks and Liars blog, was previously used here to emphasize that Glenn Beck's version of Mormon "Christianity" includes a lot of hatred for others. It is still unclear where in the Bible Jesus commanded hatred of those you disagree with. Listen to Beck's repeated expression of hatred for Republicans and bear in mind that he's now organizing a "Restoring Love" rally in Texas scheduled for July 28th.

Via Crooks and Liars:

Beck hates Republicans, but now that they have all but nominated Mitt Romney, Beck is doing his level best to defend him against the charges that Romney outsourced jobs when he was with Bain Capital. Beck, master of deception and distortion has the gall to claim that the information about Romney's time at Bain being promoted by the President's campaign is "just doing nothing but repeating lies over and over and over again.” It's hard to imagine how a propagandist and smear artist like Beck can say something like that without breaking out in laughter. This story was covered on The Last Word on July 12th. (This video seems to be having difficulty playing, but the information about Romney's relationship to the outsourcing of American jobs can be found here and here.)   Hateful Beck is going to restore love, just like dishonest Beck restored "honor" two years ago. And now, Beck, who months ago hated the Republican Party, is defending Gov. Romney and rally his army of psychotic followers to get involved in the elections...to elect Republicans. Of course, Beck's gullible and reactionary audience will believe him and do anything he says. They must have very short memories, or just a lot of hatred for President Obama.

Beckerhead flame wars: what fascism looks like

Home Disclaimer Contents For Glenn Beck Share This URL
Previously on this Review, the attacks on this blogger have been documented here, here, here, here and here. Pathetically, this childish, deceitful and malicious flame war has not stopped. It's not likely that anyone will ever care about studying the manners and behaviors of Glenn Beck's "army of psychotics," but for what it's worth to anyone who might want to understand the way Beck's followers "think," and "understand" his critics, these are three examples of flame wars where a comment was made on a story about Mr. Beck, and a clique of his followers, using the "history" feature of Disqus to track all comments made by this blogger, attack me for pointing out what is usually intuitively or blatantly obvious. It doesn't matter, their objective is to drive this critic away and, barring that, to undermine my credibility with smears, character assassination and, of course, insults.

has army of "psychotic" followers

1) Alternet, a progressive news site, ran this story: "Glenn Beck declares war on 'Glee.' " In this particular battle, I purposely set this clique of fanatics up to make an exhibit of just how sleazy, malicious and deceitful they are. Hmmmm, wonder where they get the inspiration for that from? Their attacks and my replies take up the better part of 40 pp. of comments! This is one particular gem from a woman who is suspected to be the same "momwith5kids" that terrorized my wife.

"Momma Grizzley" feels free to wage this type of sleazy defamation of character because it's very expensive to track her IP, find her location, serve her with papers, hire a lawyer and then attend a trial most likely out of state. And so it goes on page after page of sleazy, hypocritical character assassination because I point out that their hero is a liar and a hypocrite.

2) On the conservative, The Daily Caller, was this story, "Conservatives hit Beck to taking content without attribution." This is the piece where it was learned that Beck lied about having written the slogan ("Truth has no agenda") for his fake "news" site, The Blaze. After writing a comment to stress that one point of the 4 page story about Beck using other people's material, a 36 page flame war broke out. There, doodadio, who once accused me of beating my wife (as Todd conveys below), doesn't believe that humans evolved from apes and denies the reality of anthropomorphic climate change wrote this:

"Insanity." It's easier for Beck's ardent followers to believe I'm "insane" than it is to wrap their heads around the fact that Glenn Beck lied about having written that slogan. Cognitive dissonance must be avoided!

3) The next example comes from a piece on FreakOutNation, "Glenn Beck on leaving Fox News: "God said, if you do not leave now, you will lose your sole." Yes, Beck said that. At any rate, someone, who has been documented here previously, Todd, "debunk the truth," Scheller, demonstrates how he twists the understanding of words to not mean what they actually mean.

Todd doesn't know the difference between an intelligent question and a dishonest question. No wonder he can't grasp that Beck asks dishonest questions. Oh how much fun it is to be targeted by a clique of fascistic followers of a reactionary propagandist!

4) The last example here (there are many, many examples of this childish flame war that Disqus allows) comes from The National Journal. On a story they posted about Governor Romney promising to bring the bust of Churchill back to the White House, the let loose another flurry of personal attacks on me. It's so ironic to read comments from "Captain America," a telling, cartoonish name if there ever was one, calling me "insane." His line of attacks have been continuing for the last few months or so, but his information about comments made using Disqus goes back to well over a year. He just made up a new ID for the sole purpose of driving me off the Internet. It's hard to believe that he's not violating Disqus posting policies.

This is fairly mild for him, but his motivation and goal is clear: "just leave." Stop posting comments online and he and the rest of these immature clowns will leave me alone. This is what fascism without power looks like. This and violence directed at people these fascists don't like the color of.

Update, 5/11/2013: These silly attacks have largely disappeared since the blogger began employing the comment and delete tactic, demonstrated initially by Benny, the racist, Hill. This ends up turning the comment into one posted by "Guest," and makes it far more difficult to be located by this pack of attack dogs. If they do find one, then this silly, childish flame war is resumed as it was this week over at the Media Matters website. Not that another example of this fascistic manner needs to be put on exhibition, none the less, this is what fascism looks like.

Update, 7/06/2013: For the last few months, one particular follower of Beck has been tracking my Disqus comments and making an ironic, deceitful comment, calling this critic of Beck "the Original Peckerhead Beckerhead." Last Sunday, he decided to post comments by impersonating me, using my own easily copied Gravatar. This documentation is primarily for legal purposes since it is against the law to do this in NY. In this exchange, this blogger is "Gadamer_Too" and anonymous Guest149 is posting as "Victor Tiffany" and using my picture, created in photoshopp by my wife.

Is there any tactic that these fascists will not use?

Update, 12/14/2013: Anytime these days that I do not delete a Disqus comment (turn it to Guest), Todd Scheller, lead fascist at this point, finds it to launch another round of personal attacks, soon joined by his fellow Beckerheads who have the common sense, at least, to not use their actual names. The day that Nelson Mandela died, I wrote comments on the Politico news post critical of the reactionary racists posting malicious comments about that great man. The next day, Todd initiated another round of insults and smears. By weeks end, he was joined by at least four others. This time, I notified the WV authorities where Todd lives. For more, see "Nelson Mandela, anti-apartheid crusader, dies at 95." There is indeed, no deception, no twisting of reality to make it appear as if I'm the initiator of these flame battles of smear, libel, insult (of my intelligence of course) and overall character assassination that these fascists will not employ.

Essentially, I'm compelled to "Guest" (delete) every comment I post using Disqus to hide from these amoral followers of Glenn Beck who are deluded enough to believe themselves as "Christian."

Glenn Beck Is Either A Dry Drunk Or Simply A Narcissist!

Home Disclaimer Contents For Glenn Beck Share This URL
Previously on The Review, a piece written by Sarah Jones was published that described Glenn Beck as "malignant narcissist." The following piece, republished here with permission of the author, Jillian Barclay, elaborates on Beck's cruelty and self-importance. Readers who are fighting addiction can seek drug and alcohol withdrawal services.

Glenn Beck Is Either A Dry Drunk Or Simply A Narcissist! Violent Rhetoric, Self-Important, It All Fits!

Explaining Glenn Beck's Cruelty To Others!

For years, Glenn Beck has been spewing hate and venom, unchecked. His daily rants on Fox have turned this 'former' drunk and drug addict into a multi-millionaire. His violent rhetoric is seemingly without end and his millions of fans have become cult-like in their blind allegiance. Those millions of followers buy his books, pay hundreds of dollars to see him and listen to him speak and they believe and follow his every word. His cruelty to those he targets is unmatched. And yet, his fans scream for more, and the more they scream, the more he gives them. Their adoration is what keeps the man going strong; the attention and devotion from his disciples is something he craves.
Beck's personality has been examined by many who have the same simple opinion. He is nothing more than what is called a "dry drunk" or a narcissist. A very wealthy one, but one, nevertheless. He has made cruelty work for him. When one reviews the 12 Steps of AA and compares that to the things that Beck says and does, the steps and Beck don't seem to go together. Beck talks about AA and states that he follows the program, but never admits that he violates so many principles of the 12 steps, that he cannot possibly take the program seriously.
After reviewing his methods and the things he says, Glenn Beck does seem to demonstrate the personality traits of the dry drunk or even the narcissist. Not a pretty personality picture, but many people believe either of the two to be perfectly accurate descriptions of Glenn Beck. Beck may disagree, but just hearing that someone else has paid attention to him will bring him his own special kind of joy.

What Is A Narcissist and What Is A Dry Drunk?

A narcissist is someone who has an inflated sense of self-importance and an extreme preoccupation with one's self. Many times it is is characterized by:
  • Taking advantage of other people to achieve his own goals
  • Feelings of self-importance
  • Exaggerating achievements and talents
  • Requiring constant attention and admiration
  • Disregarding the feelings of others, lacking empathy
  • Displaying obsessive self-interest
  • Pursuing mainly selfish goals
A dry drunk, on the other hand, is slightly different. While a narcissist does not require a history of addiction, the dry drunk does. The dry drunk is characterized as someone who is physically sober (no longer drinking or drugging), but still possessing all of the negative personality traits that go along with addictive behaviors. AA says that these people have not followed all of the steps. They have only quit using substances. Some common personality traits of the dry drunk are:
  • Grandiosity- they have an exaggerated sense of their own importance and must be the center of attention
  • Judgmentalism- they make value judgments. Everything is either good or bad.
  • Intolerance- their opinion is the only correct one
  • Impulsivity- they do not consider the consequences of what they say or do
Depending on the recovery center or psychologist you speak with, there can be additional traits:
  • over-reaction
  • pomposity
  • childish behavior
Beck and his fans may discount both as being off-base and without merit, but there are thousands who believe this man, if not crazy, is at least a victim of one of these two disorders. Beck's early professional life was characterized by cruelty to those he thought were his enemies, with most victims of his on-air cruel attacks being competitors. His early professional life was marked by drug and alcohol. He insists that he has followed the 12 step program, yet he is still cruel to and intolerant of those that have different views. That goes against the 12 steps. It also goes against most religious beliefs. Beck claims to be a Mormon. While his enemies are now political in nature, he sees them lurking around every corner and he believes they are out to destroy not only him, but the free world. He is never satisfied with debating policy. He carries it to the extreme, suggesting that they be murdered, a case in point, Michael Moore. It does not matter whether one hates or loves Michael Moore's political views. Threatening, even fantasizing about murdering the man goes beyond what most feel to be normal behavior.
Moore is not Beck's only target of hate. Nancy Pelosi has also been a fantasy killing of Beck's. When he is not threatening or thinking about murdering his perceived enemies by himself, he not so subtlely spurs on his audience. He makes perceived enemies seem more than real; their threats to his viewers' very way of life cannot be underestimated and if left unchecked, are imminent. These people are out to destroy the United States. Frances Fox Piven is one of Beck's favorite targets. The 78 year old woman is so dangerous, according to Beck... She is receiving death threats from Beck's fans. According to Beck, she is an enemy of the Constitution. Seems that anyone who disagrees with Beck's philosophies or beliefs is an enemy of the Constitution. Beck would like to see them all silenced. Perhaps, he believes that he is the only one worthy of free speech or free thought.

Beck's Handlers Exploit His Irresponsibility Out Of Greed!

Glenn Beck's handlers, Rupert Murdoch and George Ailes, are guilty of exploiting this man's irresponsibility for profit. Of course it boils down to money. They give him free rein to say whatever he wishes, even when his 'calls to action' cause harm to others. The more sensational, the better!
Beck's behavior is acceptable to Murdoch and Ailes; there is nothing wrong with his rants and his efforts to whip up hatred. Freedom of speech, after all, is to be guaranteed and respected. What? Why only guarantee and respect Beck's freedom of speech? Those who disagree or have a different point of view should be threatened with hate mail and death threats? They are the ones who should be silenced? They do not have the same rights, or shouldn't?
One of Beck's favorite excuses is that he was joking. Using humor as an excuse to make a murder threat more socially acceptable is by nature, unacceptable. Simply put, it is a cop out.

Matin Luther King, Jr. And Glenn Beck! Beck Thinks They Have Much In Common!

Glenn Beck clearly envies Martin Luther King, Jr. and his place of honor in American history. Beck has compared himself to Reverend King on at least two occasions, most recently January of 2011 (this year). He has challenged his followers and everyone else to read King's pledge of non-violence and his own pledge. According to Beck, the pledges are similar. The similarities are few, if any, except in Beck's own mind. Every sentence of Beck's 'pledge' begins with the words: "I denounce". Reverend King's own pledge 'denounced' no one. He asked for personal responsibility, unlike Beck, who seeks to blame. The following are just two lines of Beck's pledge. The following two lines, as well as the remainder of Beck's letter, are in no way similar to Dr. King's philosophy.
  1. I denounce those who wish to tear down our system and rebuild it in their own image, whatever that image may be.
  2. I denounce violent threats and calls for the destruction of our system – regardless of their underlying ideology – whether they come from the Hutaree Militia or Frances Fox Piven
The last time Beck tried to show his 'similarity' to Martin Luther King was this past August, on the anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr's march on Washington. Beck decided to have his own march on Washington, to restore freedom. Apparently, freedom in the United States no longer exists. That loss of freedom seems to coincide, in Beck's mind, with the election of Barack Obama as President of the United States and for sure, Beck denounces that election. Perhaps, if Dr. King were alive today, his name would have been included in Beck's denunciations as an enemy of the constitution.
