"Populist" Glenn Beck Whores for the Chamber of Commerce

The following is reprinted in full with permission from James Pence of an article on The Hillbilly Report, a progressive community forum for rural Americans. A supporting quotation is added at the end to support the author's argument.

chauffeured "populist"

Glenn Beck wants to portray himself as a "Populist". He wants you to think he is all out for the "little guy" against the "elites" of Washington and the Progressive movement. It seems that he not only ignores the fact that nothing Progressive has come from Washington D.C. in a long time, which is part of the problem. Now he seeks to insult your intelligence in another way. You see, far from being for the "little guy" or being a Populist at all, Glenn Beck is now doing what he does best. Whoring for money for the greediest and least patriotic among us while using the most weak minded among us to accomplish it.

Glenn Beck cares nothing for the little guy or those who have lost their jobs and incomes. All he cares about is whoring for those who fatten his, and their own pockets at the behest of all of us. Just listen to him whore for the Chamber of Commerce:

He even shamefully paints the Chamber in a favorable light, calling them like our parents and grandparents:

Where in the hell is Glenn Beck getting his information?? My parents and grandparents believed in having an American middle-class. They believed in keeping jobs here, not shipping them to China to manipulate a people that are virtual slaves. My parents and grandparents definately did not believe in locking children into sweatshops for no other reason than a bunch of rich assholes are so greedy they want to suck up more of the American dream, and horde the money from the rest of us.

Did Glenn Beck ever consider what the Chamber of Commerce is and what they do?

Now, the Chamber of Commerce is not simply an advocacy organization pursing an ideological agenda, like the National Rifle Association or the National Right to Life Committee. It is a trade association representing some of the largest corporations you can think of. Its board of directors counts among its members executives from Pfizer, Lockheed Martin, AT&T, US Airways, JPMorgan Chase & Co., IBM, and Verizon. It is The Establishment incarnate.

The saddest part is it simply is not enough for the Chamber and their shameless apoligists like Glenn Beck to crash the economy, get bailed out and still refuse to hire. No, it is not enough for them to stagnate your wages and send your jobs to China but now with the help of Glenn Beck they expect you to pay to keep your jobs in China, and to allow rich, greedy, unpatriotic idiots to continue to do so:

And Glenn Beck is calling on his hardworking listeners to donate money to the Chamber. He is literally asking American workers to give their hard-earned wages back to their employers, so their employers can use that money to advocate a public policy agenda that benefits the rich at the (again: literal) expense of everyone else. It's incredible. It's such a twisted scheme that it's easier to believe as a piece of performance art meant to mock right-wing pseudo-populism. Though if it was art, it would be dismissed as overly broad and heavy-handed.

But Glenn Beck is completely serious. He wants you to send your money off to the Pfizers and JPMorgans of the world, as a gift. For Glenn Beck, it isn't enough to have a power structure that favors the corporate elite. He wants you to pay for it, too. That's what passes for populism these days.

The most dispicable an evil part is that so many Americans are so full of hate and idiocy that they listen and agree with Glenn Beck. They are not provided with another point of view but the hatred and lies that rule the airwaves. They agree that they should have less money and that their jobs should be shipped overseas so the real elites in this country can put more in their pockets and crash our economy one more time.

Americans better wake up and smell the coffee soon.[Emphasis added]  If not, they will never improve their lot in life and this country is going to continue its move toward Chinese Communism while the Chamber and shameless, greedy, lying hypocrites like Mitch McConnell and Glenn Beck sit in the corner and laugh out loud at your stupidity. For once I must say that if that happens the people of this country have gotten what they deserve for their hatred, intolerance and misinformed ignorance.

Sometimes you simply believe what you want when the truth is robbing you blind and a charlatan is passing out your Kool-Aide.

Review note: Matt Taibbi, national affairs correspondent for the Rolling Stone Magazine said about those involved in the Tea Party movement, "I always get flat denials. 'No this is a purely grass roots movement,' so I think that [massive financial support from the Koch brothers] will penetrate, a few people will be persuaded by this. On the other hand, you have to remember for a lot of these people reality is kind of optional...They're just going to believe what they want to believe."(1) That certainly holds for anyone who believes that Glenn Beck is a populist, honest or principled.

Hey Victor! This is Nick from this past Saturday's meeting at Pam's. I finally got a chance to look at that video that Media Matters put together regarding Byron Williams. If anyone hasn't seen it yet, check it out here:

Basically the video is showing just ONE of the crazies who are coming out of the wood work. Just wait till the economy really starts to go down the crapper! I am scared we will see many more Byron Williams coming out all thanks to Glenn Beck.

Hey Nick.

The economy will start to go down the crapper if there is not enough put into alternative energy sources before the point of peak production is reached.

I'm going to address how Beck contradicts his "Pledge of Non-violence" by demonizing his opponents.
